Freezer only going to -5

We have had this electrolux fridge freezer for over 14 years and of the last couple of years the freezer has been unstable. It gets defrosted when it need (not self defrost) but the freezer never seems to get below -10. t the moment it is -5 but the kitchen ambiance is just over 10 oC. The fridge is working fine but sometimes even that gets warmer.

Is it time to get a new one ?

at 14 years old, i would change it.

the modern ones are far more economical to run

If you have already defrosted it, I doubt you can do more without a pro repair, an at that age I think, not worth it.

BTW frost-free freezers are convenient, but considerably less reliable.

i don't know. The "Which" best buys start at nearly £400

you may find that new ones have less room inside, I suppose because the insulation is thicker, so view before you buy.

well it's pretty much the same size as the one we have. There is only 2 of us. Which always tends to veer on the side of the people who have money to spend like that.
