Hello,

I want to move a radiator but I dont want the hassle of draining the system, and actually Im not sure how to anyway. So Id like to use a pipe freezing kit.

Can anyone tell me if these are easy to use and if they actually work, also what the essential procedures are, eg. turn off boiler/water supply (obviously), anything else.

Ive read that there is a 30 minute working time so it doesnt give an amateur like me very long.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers.

They're fine, and you can check the freeze as its a rad. Close the rad valves and remove the rad. Freeze the pipe under the floor. Then of course if you open the rad valve no water should come out.
Cut the pipe and put a valve on it, I'd sugest a full flow quarter turn ball valve, cos the really cheap ones might leak when they get hot.

I'm pretty sure you'd get two 15mm freezes out of one can. Obviously once you'got valves in the pipes you just let things thaw with the valves shut.

Other way is to pop down the hireafrezzer shop and get an electric one.you can leave that on as long as you like, or till you've finished

Always my first choice although I did use a can on a live water main last week without problems
