I've recently created my own french cleat system on an existing stud wall in my garage. I plaster boarded the wall and then screwed strips of plywood I'd cut at 45 degrees with a circular saw.
It's been epically successful so far.
My question is regarding the opposite wall - this is a breeze block wall separating the garage from the house. I'd like to add the same system on this wall - I can either screw the plywood directly to the breeze block or build myself a stud wall against the breeze block and continue as with the other wall. What would the forum members suggest?
Many thanks
