Are you sure the temperature is ok?
If you turn the stat down lower does it stop. (not the off position)?
Normally running all the time is a sign that it's not getting cold enough to turn the stat off. i.e. weak compressor, blockage or lack of gas.

A faulty stat that is always on should lead to items in the fridge freezing. The machine will just get as cold as possible.
If you have a thermometer check the temperatures of the fridge and freezer.
