CAPS LOCK OFF PLEASE

is it a frost free?

Does the door seem to be a good fit (e.g. if you put a piece of paper between the door and the frame, is it gripped too tight to pull out, all round the door?

Have a look at the tube where the defrost water is supposed to run out, see if it is blocked. If you pull the appliance out you will see this water runs into a dish on top of the motor. Clean it all out. The blockage can be ice or mould or fragments of food.

If it is not fully defrosting itself, unplug it and leave it until all the ice has melted. Give it a good mop out and clean and then refill it and plug it in again.

You may have a Cyclic (manual defrost) refrigerator/freezer. OR it may be a frost free freezer, but a manual defrost refrigerator, which keeps food fresh for longer.
If its a moist cold with a frost free freezer, the fridge compartment should to some extent keep itself frost free, the large amount of water and ice is just the formation of it during operation. Our Heller PPRH50 Fridge does the same thing, it gets really frosty on the back wall then it defrosts while the motor is off and there are only a couple a water drops left.
It might be an Idea to check the strip channel to make sure it hasn't frozen too, this may be the cause of all your problems!

Is it a frost free freezer with a fridge that gets frost on a plate or on the back wall, or is the whole fridge freezer frost free? If its not too old, check the manufacturers websites list of features for the fridge/freezer to see if its frost free or not, just to be safe, defrost the whole refrigerator (and the freezer), as frost free can get frosty- especially on the cheaper models! :)
