fridge light stay on

Hello there

The lightbulb in my fridge went so I bought a new one and put it in. Delighted when switched on at the mains and it lit up - but then discovered it didn't quite switch off when the switch was used (as in the door switch). The bulb dimmed significantly but definitely stayed on!

This means using more power than it should and warming the fridge!!

Any ideas from anyone ...

it sounds like it has some electronic bits that failed when old lamp went

There are some models which keep the bulb on dimly, if I remember rightly this is to prevent freezing.

If you install a single compresser fridge in a cold place ie in a garage the freezer will defrost cause it is colder in the garage than the fridge temp, so on some there is light left on so the fridge themostat will operate.
