Friends

At the risk of sounding as thick as the planks I nail together for a living I have a question about the friends thing on this forum.
If you look at my profile you'll see I have 2 friends, DIYnot who is a friend to absoluty everyone and WDIK who asked to be my friend recently. He seems a knowledgable and pleasent enough bloke so being fairly gregarious myself I said yes.
Now, I said yes without actually knowing what this scheme is for. How do I use it? Am I expected to invite my friends around for drinks and canapes, attend their weddings and send Christmas cards or is it all something else that I'm missing?
Any answers will be appreahiated.

N'Ah - it enables easy private messaging. Also, you could hide your profile amongst other things away from general view, but allow your friends to see it.

As for WDIK, you need to be wary of him - he's got several restraining orders against him for stalking.
