The front hall of our house where we hang coats after coming in the front door has no cavity wall, it's just a single skin of brick to the front and one side (other side is against neighbour's terrace house). It's quite small area with a door leading into the living room.

I was wondering if there were any options to maybe plaster in or add a cavity to improve the insulation as it gets quite cold in winter. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks,
Matt

You could batten it out, insulate it, then board and plaster. If its a outer area that you don't spend time in I wouldn't bother because unless it's heated some how it will still remain much colder than in the house.

I've got an old house without cavity walls, and I've gone around and battened out all of the external walls that don't have a window in them.
Battened with 1" x 1 1/2" pressure-treated at 400mm centres, put 25mm of polystyrene board in the void, then boarded and skimmed.
Seems noticeably warmer this winter than the previous three.
