Hi

Sorry if this is a completely basic question.

I've recently moved to a property with a sloped drive. I wondered if rock salt and sand would be the best answer to frost during the winter? If so would sharp sand be best and are there any recommended ratios etc?

Many thanks

Get a 25kg bag of rocksalt from a builders merchant.

I used to work on a small ind est with a sloped driveway - a scattering of rocksalt turns black ice rapidly into a grippy surface.

Dont use it by your front door or the red / yellow grit will get walked in.

Rocksalt is poionous to dogs so its best to avoid them walking over gritted ground and getting in their paws where the might lick it off when cleaning.

How about adding sand too? Thanks for the info.

One of the supervisors at work left a box of chocolates in his bike trailer. They were a present for one of the girls leaving. Went to his trailer at lunch time to get them and the other bits & bobs only to find the chocolate box and numerous wrappings scattered around his bike. Seems the squirrels must have had a sweet tooth.
We were told to keep an eye out for any looking/behaving oddly. Yeah right! We are in a woodland covering over 400 acres and we are going to look for a sick squirrel!
