Frustrating leak from freestanding bath tap

The freestanding tap in our new home has a leak pouring out of it when the water is on but I can’t figure out how to take it apart and fix it. Is there a trick to getting these apart? Thank you!

Yep - it's called an angle grinder - once it's in bits throw it in the bin and install one that doesn't have so many parts to go wrong.

Seriously though, that thing just looks overly complicated and I'm really not surprised it's leaking. Looks like it's leaking @ the diverter. These large taps normally just unscrew at the joints but I honestly wouldn't bother, you'll be lucky if you'll be able to find out the maker to get parts for it. That and TBH it isn't regs compliant anyway, given that handset will easily reach into the bath.

I suspected that might be the case! But thought if there was any way i could avoid the waste and cost of a new one i should at least give it a shot. Thanks for the response.

Of course and I always support not just binning something if it can be fixed. There's too much throw away stuff these days. Unfortunately if it isn't from an established manufacturer then with these types of imported bits, there isn't any support or parts availability, to allow a reasonable chance of repair I'm afraid.

Hi Madrab. The tap I bought to replace is just to complicated to install after the tiles have been laid so I’m kind of back to square one!

The lead is from the diverter and it isn’t leaking when the diverter is pulled out to send water to the hand shower. Do you have any ideas where I can get replacement diverters? Or is this a daft idea. Thanks!
