Hi all, looking at getting an EV charger installed and looking at the meter to see if it was single or three phase (its single phase, right?) And I observed that we have a mix of L and N on the same cables...

Is this normal? Or just a someone using the wrong cable clips with letters on them?

L and N in and out.

Yes its single phase.

The right-hand cable is line, yes, incorrectly marked N. To install an EV charger supply type matters, if you share the supply matters, and fuse size matters. If the supply is TT (uses an earth rod) no problems, if not, the installer has to look at how to protect against loss of PEN, there are methods around the problems, he has to decide how, even fuse size, there are ways to ensure it does not take power same time as the home.

But the rules keep changing, hard to keep up, so you need a visit by who ever is likely to fit it.

It looks to me like someone has mis-used a tie intended to mark the neutral to tidy up the cables.

Other than that, it looks perfectly normal to me, live and neutral in and live and neutral out. Some tails have the sheath the same colour as the insulation, others have a grey outer sheath.
