I would like to fit a shower pump at the base of the Hot Water Cylinder to feed one shower. The closest supply would be a double socket on the second floor but to spur from this socket through the safe zones of the walls and floor below and then to the FCU for the pump would mean a spur length of approx 5.5m.

The pump will be max 500W.

Will this be acceptable or should I fit the FCU within 3 metres of the socket it is spurred from and then onto the pump. I could do this but would mean a random FCU on the wall of our bedroom (and I would obviously need to label it).

The sockets on the second floor have their own ring with a B32 MCB which is protected by a 32mA RCD. There are only for sockets on the on this ring. The whole house was rewired in 2010.

Having read a number of threads regarding the permitted length for spurs from final ring circuits I an aware the regulations seem to be interpreted differently by different electricians and presumably different BC officers. I would like to know it the 5.5m spur would be ok.

The spur will be on same 2.5mm twin and earth as ring.

Thanks

Thanks ELFI. Yes should have said. There is an immersion on the tank with its own supply from consumer unit on a 16A mcg. I kind of thought immersions should not be used for spurs/extentions but if you think this would be ok it would make things easier! :D

I can't see the rating for the immersion although we'vs never used it. !

It'll be fine.

Connect the supply side of the immersion switch to a Switched Fused Connector with 3A fuse.

MCB :) not the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
