A friend of mine is having a new conservatory installed. The base and dwarf walls have just been completed. The electrical cable (2.5mm T&E) has been placed in the cavity and through the socket opennings. it will be connected to the current ring via a fused spur. it has not yet been connected. the query is there is only one run of cable which will have 3 double sockets on it. I am sure under current regulations only 1 double socket can be fitted to a fused spur. can any one confrm this?

One double socket can be fitted to an unfused spur.

The FCU will limit the total current to 13A so you can have as many sockets downstream of the FCU as you want. However, the total load will be limited to 13A.

However the cable shouldn't be run through the cavity.

It does limit ALL onward sockets from the f/spur to 13 amp.

So provide your mate isn't going to run a few air heaters and top over (13 x 230v) 3000w odd, there's no problem.

Cavities shouldn't really have cable in them because a) they won't been in a safe zone and b) if the touch both inner and outer wall could allow bridging of moisture and damp.
There's is another problem if the cavity is stuff full of insulation, cables and insulation = derating the cable capacity.

With a bit more effort, it may be quite easy to EXTEND the ring, instead of having that 13 amp fused spur controlling the conservatory.
