Gainsborough 9.5 Shower

I have a Gainsborough 9.5 Shower just out of warranty,when i turn it on if takes few seconds for anything to happen then water comes out which is very hot even on cold,then it stops again then starts again.I rang Gainsborough they said buy a new shower engine can any one help.

I would try to get Gainsborough to fix as a goodwill gesture as it is just out of warranty
