Hi all,

I'm currently having a patio installed and the landscaper has left a 2-3 inch wide gap between the slabs and the garden wall + steps. The job isn't finished yet, but I'm concerned it's going to be left like this. I have sent him a message about it but no response. So I thought i'll post here! Any ideas on why there would be gap like this? Surely it can't just be left like that? And I would have thought it would look odd if he is planning on cutting some slabs up to fit in the gap? I would appreciate some opinions! Thanks!

Maybe going to fill with chippings to stop rain water splashing up onto your walls. Also possible he is waiting for the wall to be finished so any mortar that is dropped will not stick to the flags. He might intend to fill with concrete.

Aye some suitable stone chippings is pretty standard affair for suchlike. You could always speak to him.

Is that soil or mortar in the gap? It looks the same colour as the mortar between the bricks. It looks flush with the flags. If it's mortar and it's flush, then there's nowhere to sit some chippings, unless he was planning to chisel it all out again!
