Gap between skirting and tile. HELP

Hi,

I have removed a door jamb and replaced with plastererd wall. I am in the process of doing the skirting.You can see my dilemma in the images attached.

I am thinking either pack some spacers so that the skirting sits in and covers the gap, or stick some best colour matched (i.e. magnolia caulk) into the gap so that it blends in.....

Not sure on the best route forwards. What do you suggest?

Fit something under floor where hole is to support floor grout.
Bit of matching grout will look fine
