Gap in laminate

Hi all, we have recently moved into a property which has had extensive diy on it. The previous owner created an open plan living kitchen, dining room. There is quite a bit of evidence of poor workmanship.

We have a small gap between floor boards where it seems flooring was started on one side and the other and didn’t quite join up between the kitchen island and the wall. Is there any way I can deal with this without pulling up the floor ?

Laminate can only be laid in one direction, please provide more info and useful photos.

That looks damaged, you could try cleaning the joint up and using a suction cap to pull the floor back together but I don't fancy your chances.
