garage conversion - door infill

Hi all.

I'm in the middle of a wider refurb and starting to think about the garage conversion.

Above the garage door (amongst other areas) is a section of hung tile. my plan is to remove and replace all hung tiles with insulation/render.

Is it a really good/stupid idea to bring brickwork in the opening up to dpc only and stud above (then insulate/render over as above)? rather than brick/block up to underside of window?

Not a stupid idea, but if you where thinking of rendering the whole lot then it will have different expansion rates which might be problematic.

Cement board backing is very stable.

Thanks @catlad & @^woody^ , my thought was that once the insulation joint wasn't at the point where the two materials met I'd be safe enough?? optimistic?
