Hi,
I'm planning to convert half of a detached garage into a sewing room for the Mrs keeping the (slightly bigger half as a workshop for me). I'm planning to replace the up and over garage door with PVCu sliding doors. The opening is lined with a wooden frame which I plan to remove and fix the PVCu frame to the brick work instead. However there is no lintel above the door just the wooden frame piece across the top. Should I leave the timber frame in place and fit the PVCu door to this? Should I fit a lintel and fix the frame to that? Or just leave the timber top piece in and fix the frame to the brickwork at the sides and the timber at the top?... There is no weight above the door... Any advice appreciated
