hi people
i have a up and over garage door the type which two springs run across the top, 1 of the wire cables have snapped, question is how do you manage to stretch the spring to replace??
regards steve
yaz - try a twisted rope clamp. Loop a length of rope through the end of the spring and then to an anchor point; knot the rope to form an 'endless' loop. Insert a stout length of timber midway in the loop and begin turning, this will twist the rope thus shortening it and pulling the spring. Get a 2nd person to hold the timber whilst you fit the wire otherwise the timber might spin and whack you in the face.
