hi folks, id like to extend my current garage by 6ft, it is a single storey garage with flat roof built onto the side of the house.

i want to extend it 6ft back into our garden, keeping the current width or maybe slightly narrower, i emailed our local council to ask about foundations and wether it would fall under permitted development there response was to draw what i wanted to do and pay them £50 and they'd look into it.

im happy the extension itself would meet permitted development i just wanted to know if my idea for the foundations is sufficient, i plan to dig 500mm wide trench foundations down to 1m, i will then half fill this with hardcore, i will then dig 250mm out of the square in the middle of the trench foundations and then lay concrete to fill both the square and trench foundations leaving me with a nice square slab on which to build the extension.

i want to lay the slab now and do the extension next year when i can afford it but by getting the slab down now will allow me to finish off the rest of the garden now

thanks
chris
