I am shortly having my garage floor finished with screed.

Questions. First of all this has been build on a 'Raft foundation of concrete'

Was there supposed to be celotex? as i dont see room for it now as 80mm will bring it up level with the driveway.

Second i am not sure which i go for, i see traditional sand/cement screed is cheaper quoted about 900 for my garage area (2.6 m3) Liquid screed about 600 more.

However i want to ensure it is dead smooth as i would like to epoxy or other flat finish. Is this achievable with both?

Thanks.

You wouldn't usually put insulation in a garage slab, no point if it's not a heated space.

Sand / cement is fine, and when done by a pro comes out very very smooth.

A sand cement screed should be at least 50mm thick.

Garage floors are not insulated if it's still a garage.

A screed may well detach if driven on.

An epoxy coating will make a rough finish smooth, but may not smooth out an uneven finish.

Does the raft have a DPM?
