Garage internal roof

Hi,

My garage rafters on a pitched roof are exposed and to make my garage more useable / nicer , want to cover them like you would if you were insulating the loft. But I want to have them white or paint white, and do it cheap, my idea is to either put up plasterboard or that soft board that's got white backing as that's also cheap, but I'm not sure what would be better?

Has anyone done similar or idea what would be better?

Do you want to be able to use up there for long term storage?
Somewhere to put the xmas decs etc?

I would.

If so then I'd get some sheet material that will act as a floor for on top.
Under that put rockwool.
Then yes plasterboard & skim it, put a hatch in.
Oh dear - there goes the budget lol.
