Hi guys,

I need to replace the housing on my garage tap as it looks split.

Is this a DIY job or do I need a plumber?

Please see photos. I have the new part but am unsure on removing the silver bit from the copper pipe. Can the housing just be unscrewed from the copper pipe and silver nut?

It's all isolated.

Thanks

You've got a solder ring replacement wall plate elbow. If you get a compression one it will be a straight swap.

You have a wall plate that needs to be soldered onto the pipe. Swap it for one that has a compression fitting ,which is what you currently have.

Thanks. Will have a look in b and q.

So basically just unscrew the brass housing from the silver nut and put the new one in. ?

Apologies for such basic questions !

DIY Job, but the one in your hand is a soldered type. On the wall is compression.

Edit: served my lunch up and came back to 3 answers
