Hello

Am building a metal workshop in the garage and am wanting to rewire the garage but unsure what cabling etc to use,

I have a large set of tools in the garage along the lines of large welders, grinders, drills, quite a few lights etc etc.

Any body have any pointers in what to go for???

Any help would be great.

youll probably need SWA to the garage (unless its attached to the building. your gonna need a large supply for that equipment. youll need to tell us more first tho

max power rating of tools, and what you expect to be used at the same time, supply type (TN(c)S, TT), distance from house to garage

If you don't know stuff as basic as that, should something as major as this job be one of your learning projects?

Are you aware of Part P of the Building Regulations?

Hi, I am doing the same thing, this is what I want to run:

Lighting: around 300w

Machinery: Max individual of 1100w

Heating: 2kw

Tumbledrier

Freezer

Probably max of two machines at once plus heating so I am looking at a max of around 4.5kw at a time (without the t/dryer running)
The workshop is 16m from the house consumer board. I have a spare way from the unit which is breaker protected.
Thanks
Tim
