Hi,

I am just finishing the framing on a new garden building project, and wondered what people think of using bolts to secure the corners.

The walls are made from 2x4 studs. I"m using a mixture of 4" and 3" screws for the framing and noggins.

The plans I'm following don't even call for a double top plate, which I will probably do anyway, but I have a job lot of m10 bolts on hand so was thinking of having two joining the corner studs of the adjoining walls.

Is this overkill?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it's a 13' by 8' building with UPVC doors and windows. The roof will be felt or felt shingles and I'm planning to do the floor windows and roof with 50mm rockwool, so some extra weight there.

Ta.

It does not matter only that bolts i suppose might be more forgiving should you wish to move the shed later on.

If you have the time then go for it.

The overall strength and stability of the shed will be greatly improved once you wrap it in ply sheathing etc.
