garden building

I am going to build a garden room / workshop and have read the building regs.
The thing I cant find answers on are if you want to dig down into the garden to give extra storage space below the building. I am only talking no more than a metre down

There is no problem doing this but it is usually prohibitively expensive. The cost of removing that large volume and disposing of it plus the need to tank the basement adds up to quite a few quid.

Unless you have wide access for a large digger and dumper don't even consider it.

Thanks for the reply you say there is no problem doing this, so do you know where I can find guidelines and regs as you would such if you were digging down inside a house

How big is the propsed building, do you want this basement covering the entire footprint? Regs are largely irrelevant as building control will have zero interest if its not going to be a habitable building or it doesn't adjoin a house.

If its within 1m of a boundary or its very large they might be interested.

The building is only for storage and general workshop. 5M X 4M MAX 2.4M high not adjoining the house (so no planning permission required)
The basement would only be max 3m long 1.5 wide and a meter deep. It's just to store those things you use once a
while that take up useful space
