My mate's door from the living room to the garden has been knackered for awhile, he has to lift it up to get it to close and pull with all his might. This time though he opened it fully but when he tried to shut it it won't go back, the door seems wider than before i.e. it won't close.

Any idea how this can be temporarily resolved? I told him to get it fixed years ago but then the pandemic made it worse to get a handyman. What's happened here? It doesn't look like the hinges are stretched.

Please post photos so we can see the shape of the gate, and its construction method.

Does it drag on the bottom corner opposite the hinge?

Has it gone trapezoid?

Have the joints opened up?

Has it swollen due to damp?

Sorry the title was badly worded. It's the door in the house from living room to the garden.

It's the bottom left corner from the outside its catching on the frame like its expanded. I think it's to do with the hinges, I'll upload photos

I was thinking take the middle-screw out in the bottom hinge and put a longer one in.

The door appears to have just moved well over to the left (opposite side to the hinges 9from outside view)). Had trouble locking it for years but after recently opening it fully and then trying to shut it it it just won't go where it should, it's not just a centimetre out, it's well out.

The hinges don't look like they're hanging off or anything.

Couldn't get the screws out of the hinges, their threads were done for. Couldn't hammer the pin up in the bottom hinge. Resorted to using a reciprocator saw to shave off the wood that was bulging out on the left side as shown here and just about managed to lock the door. .
