Garden Room Leaking

Hey All,

I've recently built a garden room and failed at the first hurdle, yesterday was the first bit of rain we've had in a few weeks. I'd just finished plasterboarding the walls and decided not to plasterboard the roof until I'd tested for leaks... Anyway, I'm glad I did, it's leaking.

I've used felt, bitumen felt adhesive and clout nails, I've overlayed each sheet by 6 inches, glued and nailed each one, however, I seem to have a leak somewhere. I have a feeling it's on one of the seams.

What should I do?

- Go over the seams again with more adhesive.
- Buy some joining tape and go over the seams.
- Buy some fibreglass glue?
- Re-roof?

Here are the pictures Andy.

The fall is from 2.4 to 2.0m over 3.6m not sure what the percentage is.

One layer of felt and I used Ultrapol polyester charcoal mineral.

With the rain last night it’s spread a little over to the left hand side… dripping more ferocious.

Anything I can do in the mean time to protect the wood? Tarpaulin over it?

Just get a flat roofer to cover it properly for you.

I don't know why diyers mess with felt when EPDM is so cheap and reliable.

Some decent photos would help but a lapped felt roof is fine for a garden shed no more. Take the felt off and fit an EPDM roof.
