i want to get a shed for the garden at the back. Something to store all the odds and sods in there. Was thinking of a full width (30ft) building.

Now what is the cheapest material to use. I want it to be solid and not from wood. Seen some of these concrete panel sheds but are like £1k for A 6X8ft garage.

Any suggestions welcome

You might want to check if you need planning permission for such a sized structure.

probably will, not quite building it yet but wanted to know my options inmaterial against cost

few people already done it so cant be a problem, plus its about 120ft away from the house

You are less likely to need planning for a timber structure. Also there is no reason for a timber framed building to not be 'solid'. Concrete blockwork will be cheapest, but will need more groundwork (footings) than timber.
Are you diy or getting someone in?

I know wood is solid, but ive had a few rot after a few years. Looking for something to last near enough lifetime.

was thinking of when i do it to hire a digger to dig the foundations and get ready-mixed concrete.

Will most likely get a builder friend to help with

you will definatly need planning permission if its more than 4m high or more than something like 9square m

all depends on how deep your shed is of course :D :D ;)

Blockwork seems to work out cheaper than timber for a larger structure.

Is also less prone to rot and burning down.

It will need rendering or something but can be masonry-painted dull green or dark brown to blend in with the garden.
