I've an old model Bosch garden shredder (mod. AXT 1600HP) that is still in good working order but the spiral cutter needs replacing. Every spares outlet I've browsed on the 'net states that the part is no longer available, so is it possible to re-sharpen it or maybe fit an alternative part?

I know the obvious answer is to to replace the machine, but I hate dumping a perfectly serviceable shredder.

Thanks for viewing.

Many thanks for the rapid reply, but not the same machine .. the AXT1600HP uses a helix/spiral cutter which makes for a very quiet machine when in use.
Strange as many spares for this model are still available, but not the cutter.

Hmm, yes see what you mean. Perhaps your local garden tool place would sharpen it. The blades probably aren't available now as all the supplies have been used up but other supplies for the machine have not or may still be being used in other Bosch shredders.

Have you tried contacting someone like this company.https://www.sparetoolparts.co.uk/bosch/lawn-and-garden-tools/chopper/bosch-axt-1600-hp-spare-parts-list-type-600851242.html It does not say they have stock but to conact them (item 115) perhaps there has been a supersession. As to sharpening the only thing I could think of would be to use a lathe and file or grind stone of some type and rotate backwards and forwards slowly whilst holding file or stone at the correct angle.

Thank you for that info.
I will give them a call next week.
