Gardtec 800 Series Lost Engineer Code?

Hello,

Moved in to a new house just before Xmas which has a Gardtec 800 series alarm system fitted. The previous owner was able to provide me with the Master code, so I am able to activate/deactivate the alarm... However, he advised me that he had lost the Engineer code years before, so any advanced setup changes would not be possible.

Obviously I am able to use the alarm at the moment but am worried that there will come a time when I (or an engineer) will need to have access to the setup menus in order to make changes.

Is there anyway I can reset this code using the Master Code??
Or is there any other way to reset this code...

I think it has got to be a good idea to get this sorted now, instead of waiting until I actually need it.

as an installation engineer i will always change the battery every 4 years, some people change them every 5 but i personally prefer to er on the safer side.

the external siren (SAB) will sound, dont worry about it just go through the motions and the sounder will stop after you have rebooted and put in the user code,

then you just have to reprog the system.

Hello, I am also facing issues that require an engineers code as the precious installer has refused to disclose it. If the reset options that have been discussed are followed will this mean that any programmed zone descriptions will be lost?

During a battery changed are the settings and descriptors still saved even if the mains and battery are disconnected.

Just powering down will not alter any settings.
But, depending on the previous firm, they may have set it up for engineer reset if the system.is 'tampered'

Try the above reset as explained .....it will not default the zone settings ..engineer and master code only ( if not locked ) other option pay the original installer to reset the engineer code

Just to give some more details, I have the master code which allows me to set and unset etc.

the battery was changed about 6 years by a different engineer and now is due for another change.

So I can assume the tamper isn't programmed as per oasistechnical 's message. According to Risco replacement keypads aren't available hence questioning if the green lcd can be made brighter.

Would appreciate if anyone knows if spare stock is available from sources in order to acquire a new pad if that is the only remedy for brightness. Characters and buttons on pad and display are fine.

Just had a thought could it be the battery which affects the brightness even though the mains are still powering?

No ...it can be set to on all the time , does it get brighter when you press a key ?
