Hi all

Wonder if anyone can help as im struggling to find the right thing. I have gas supply boundary box sitting in the garden close to the boundary with the road , Its dark green and approx 300mm long x 200mm wide x 400mm high. Its free standing and just loosely sits over a moulded concrete base with the gas pipes (shut off position ?) which protrude up from the ground. There's no meter in here as this is in a separate meter box on the wall of the house. Its in poor condition and needs to be replaced. Spoke to the gas network people and it sounded very expensive to get them to replace it. I've looked online for the equivalent product and all i can find is something that looks the right sort of thing (but about twice as big as the current one and v expensive ) http://www.kingsleyplastics.co.uk/arange.shtml Any pointers anyone may have for me would be very much appreciated....Cheers. :)

Hey I have got a box exactly same as yours, J125-S5 (except the lift-off cover is metal and it's not in bad condition). I am wondering what it is for. I never had one at my previous address. The builder who is doing a small extension for me says he THINKS it is something to do with gas pressure and is now obsolete. If he's right I'd like to get rid of it. Have you any idea what is for and if I can get rid of it (in which case would you like it?). But it would have to be the gas people to dismantle it IF it serves no useful purpose. The reason I'd like it to go is because the fence which shields it from the public footpath is coming down when the extension goes up, and I don't want anybody wandering on my property and meddling with it.

The gas people have now been out. It's a MEDIUM PRESSURE REGULATOR. The gas pipe that comes into our road is medium pressure, which is far too strong for domestic use, so the pressure regulator converts it to low pressure. I now realise it's an important part of the gas supply, and is not something to be got rid of.
