Gas Combi Boiler and thermostat

I have a ferroli combi boiler and one thermostat in the living room.

Im just curious about something?

I understand that when I set the thermostat at say 21 degrees, then when my heating is on and the room temp gets to 21 it will knock of then back on again when the temp drops.

What happens if I was to put the tempertaure of my boiler up to full? (It has a heating level and a hot water level.) I currently have it half way. Will the room heat quicker? Will I burn more gas?

it will mean the rads will be hotter so room shoud warm quicker ,only way of testing gas usage is try it both ways and take meter readings, over same time period and similar outside tempature
