We had an old gas fire removed from our 80's bungalow and it was replaced with a fanned flue item.
The old pre cast flue was left in situ in the loft as the installer seemed to think it may be asbestos...the flue was left unblocked at the bottom, now with heavy rain l have noticed a small amount of damp appearing below where the flue runs down inside the wall...is it ok to remove the vent on the ridge and replace with ridge tiles providing the top of the old flue is opened up inside for ventilation.
