Hi All

We have 10 year old house with a gas boiler.
I'm currently planning a lean-to on the back of the house, across the kitchen area.
The lean-to will extend the width of the house which is approx. 4.8m, however the flue from the boiler would end up under the lean-to.
It will be constructed from 16mm polycarbonate triplewall. Distance from flue to roof will be over 300mm, probably over 500mm.

As the lean-to is not enclosed (Only the house wall), will there be any issues with the flue position?

Thanks in advance for suggestions and advice.

If you'd give the exact model it would help. Some boilers are allowed under a lean to / car port with open ends.

Below balconies or a car port roof. 25mm (1")*
BS5440-1 2000 200mm (8")

Extracted from inst instructions

I would interpret that as a yes providing the lean to is open both ends.

It my be allowed but the lean to will probably be dripping with condensation. The clearances to openings also increase to 1200mm from 300mm when under a car port and I would view this lean to as a similar situation.

Why would you view this as a car-port?
It's open on 3 sides.

Hi you quoted,The lean-to will extend the width of the house which is approx. 4.8m.
Is there a fence, wall or other any physical boundary on the sides of the proposed lean to ?.
Everything is possible but a photo of the rear of your house would be an advantage, then you will get a definitive answer.

Good luck.

I will look into a photo.
There are fences both sides, approx. 6ft. There will be a clear 2ft min gap between top of fence and bottom of lean-to. The lean-to will not be right up against the fences, there will be a gap of > 6" at least.
