BG has recently disconnected my boiler from its gas supply and taken the parts away making it totally out of action.

They have said the ridge flue terminal is not fixed to the ridge adequately and i will be in danger of CO poisoning.

I have had 2 x builders round to inspect it and they both say it is not dangerous at all.

They will not reconnect the gas supply until this unnecessary work is completed.

BG fitter done this sabotage under my insurance for any faults.

Any suggestions please. Ive been without hot water and heating now for 2 weeks.

Thank you. John pearce

No CORGI person including BG is allowed to disconnect anything without your permission. If you refuse permission they will then call out NG to make safe, but this would then be a second professional independant assessment of the problem ;)

And i bet they carried out a flue flow test as well didn't they

What is the point in paying someone to check your boiler for safety and then getting upset when they find it to be unsafe. (that always puzzles me)

I don't know wether you have noticed but that don't make any sense

You need a corgi registered company who specialise in flues, not a builder.

I think you will find that the flue is not covered under your contract. I think.

arrrh well where bg have gone wrong the parts are under the ownership of the houseowner, we in england call it theft if someone takes something not belonging to them ;) ;) (thats if they are taken to prevent use and not defective of course if they are knackered parts then they are knackered parts)

Probably find parts are still there he has prob just capped boiler supply in some way far better than NG (transco) cutting it off in street and charging 400 quid to reconnect it... As for builder saying no fault most haven`t got a clue......

When you look at up your flue adaptor where it joins ridge tile there should be a nut and bolt on either side securing it with no gaps where the two faces meet... And if its really old it may be coated with epoxy resin which is like a black paint this is an immediate cut off even if bolts etc are all ok as the coating can peel off and block flue . But they should have all been picked up by now

And look very carefully at the bolts each end - they were often made from plastic.. I still come across them from time to time - the flue pipework can collapse if they shear off. Normally straightforward (though expensive - need two people) job to replace the bolts with metal.

What parts - half a fitting and a couple of inches of copper? I'd do the same if I thought the occupier was going to reconnect something dangerous as soon as I left.

The flue has to be carefully inspected, and tested. Don't mess with flues - ANY faults have to be put right, but ridge terminals per se can be used for most purposes.
