Hi

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section but here goes.

Just installing a new kitchen, will be getting a gas hob fitted by registered fitter eventually but need some advice about the worktop upstand. I know some regulations have changed so can the laminate upstand run the full lenght behind gas hob or does it need to stop either side of the hob?

Thanks

gas regs require 300mm minimum clearance from combustible material to edge of hob, intention being walls or wall units i think, as it can be reduced to 50mm if non-combustible, but not really sure if this would apply to a small upstand, suppose it depends on interpretation of the regs, others will comment soon (i'm sure  )

would have thought what you are proposing to do will be fine

kirk are you entirely sure about those measurement you have given :?:

the 300mm dimension comes from BS6172 (?) but as i said it is clearance required to a combustible surface which can be reduced to 50mm if it is a non-combustible surface
