Hi there, I am having two problems with Gas in my flat but I am not sure if they are related. It is a bit of a co-incidence that they both went wrong within a day of each other though.

Firstly, I noticed on Monday night that the pressure on my gas hob increased. I would say at the max level it is burning about twice as hard as it was previously. (The flames are longer and the burning hiss louder)

Also, on Tuesday morning, I noticed that my boiler is having problems. It is basically firing up then cutting out after a few seconds. 30 seconds later, it fires up, then cuts out again.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers in advance.

Could be the governor on the meter, give the emergency guys a call and they will check it out for you.

The numbers on the meter, and it's free.

Phoned the National Grid number and they sent out an engineer within an hour.
It was indeed the Governor that had failed.
The guy actually said that he would have had to change the Governor regardless,
since the model I had fitted was known to be prone to failure.

Thanks again for the advice.
