I recently got a recessed gas meter box installed in the side of my house. When I check the work after the plumber had left the air vents to under the house have been cemented over. I contacted the plumber who informed me the gas company would not connect the gas supply if the box was located under a meter from the vents, which in now is as it is positioned equally distant from the two vents. He advised that if i consider it an issue he will reopen the vents once the gas is installed.
i would like the vents open as they are the only two on that side of the house. Could this location cause issues down the line? Does anyone know why this regulation exists, is it for the structure of the wall of due to the possibility of gas leaks? I can find no mention of it in local building regulations. How how would others go about remedying the situation?
Any help much appreciated.
