Hi,
I know it’s a plumbing question however people Reply more in this group lol

I have a external metre with a yellow mdpe pipe coming up , as Im
Building my bay window this is now inside which I know has to
Be metal or sleeved
With metal… I just wondered what metal
Would be best and does it have to be a sleeve or could I get some steel and angle it Date d to each wall?
Ideally moving the metre
Would Be better as I looked into
However cadent want £3,000 and build a new wall for the metre and then the gas supplier want £200 to move the metre which i can’t justify considering we got the metre moved around 4 years ago from
Inside to outside at a huge cost
Thanks
Jake

Has to be steel pipe, not sleeved or covered.

Better off seeing if you can excavate round the pipe and move the whole thing and then get your side of the supply extended.

Does it matter where a gas meter is with smart meters?
Or is it space that you need?
Presume that you’re aware of gas regs?

Hi cdbe,
That’s the issue I’m having that there’s no where to move it to :(

Can a metal tail pipe be put on? If so how far under the ground does it have to be? I’ll take a pic of my dilemma lol

Hi Tiger
I’m happy to have it anywhere and yes aware of the regs sort of which is the reason its
Causing a issue lol
Thanks

Here you go my issue! I’ve had to close the cavity of the new bay window as I can’t have a gas pipe in a cavity due to the regs and I just can’t figure out how to get around this!
Thanks
Jake

If you can't do as I said above you're a bit stuck.

I'm pretty sure the gas transporter won't stick a bit of steel pipe on the end of the plastic and bury the connection.
