Hi good people of this fine forum
just aquired an old cast iron gas ring that has the jet missing, anyone know what size the jet hole should be as I will turn one up on the lathe.

"An old gas ring" doesn't really help much, the jet size is calculated based on such things as the required heat output and the fuel type (Natural Gas, Butane or Propane), but you'll struggle to turn one on a lathe as the hole needs to be accurate to hundreths of a millimetre, and could be less than a millimetre in diameter depending on the ring. Is there a data plate on the ring anywhere? If so please post all info off it.

Hi muggles

The only markings are

calour gas cc s

I am expecting it to be less than a millimetre that is no problem, and buying one is out of the question. I like making things.

I have a set of drills that start at .3mm to drill with them you need very high speed and the finest of feeds, it can be done.

Maybe you do like making things but sometimes it's safer to buy. In any case I can't help you I'm afraid, without more info it's impossible to say what size you need. Have you tried emailing Calor?

sorted it, started with a small drill and worked my way up to a 1.5 mm :D
