In my second year NVQ plumbing and been told today that you can not enrol on the third year course (gas) unless you are employed in the gas industry.
My personal circumstances are such that I will be unable to work until my toddler is at school full time, which leaves me rather stuck.
Do think that I could learn the theory and practical which would then leave me to get my hours in with a gas company so I could apply to Corgi.
I have heard that there are courses available, category 3 for non gas employees.
Can anybody shed some light on this or give me any advice.

You just missed the boat by under a year mate. CORGI/ACS clamped down on the Cat 3 just after I slipped through. It's a closed shop now - unless you work with a qualified fitter, you just can't get in.
Just had a fifty-eight year old fully apprentice trained plumber come and work for me for nothing!!! for six months so he could get his papers, I did the same to get mine.
