Hi all,
I'm trying to order a pair of curved rail hinges for a gate with a curved top.
These seem to have plates with hinge posts which fit onto the face of the gatepost, then the hinge arm (the bit fastened onto the gate) is cranked to sit the gate into the opening. This means that these hinges are "sided" or "handed". If I stand looking at the gate from the side where I can see the hinge posts, and the gate therefore would open towards me, and the hinges are on my left ... are they right hand or left hand hinges?
One supplier has these as right-hand in this case. Which of course they would be if I was standing on the other side of the opening so that the gate would open away from me. Is it the case that whether a door or gate is left or right hinged is supposed to be from the viewpoint that you are looking at the door or gate and it would open away from you?
TIA for any help.
Regards,
Terry.
