YOU might need your cluch ajusting or it may need replacing

You should avoid posting in the two forums as it gives me a sore head. On the corsa B The adjustment was at the gearbox end of the cable. If you want the clutch to release earlier you should tighten the adjuster at the threaded end. I don't know if your corsaC is the same. Hope this helps

sorry about that , this is the fist time I have used this forum and I was unsure where I should leave my question. Thanks for the info.

Had a think(sometimes works) and it is more likely to be the gear linkage needing adjusted. On corsas this has to be done underneath the car. Does 1st and2 nd need pushed hard to the left to go in, if this is the case I would suspect the gear linkage. It is common with corsas , I believe vauxhall even sell a repair kit for the linkage.

just received your note today. I do have to push to the left.

pretty sure the gear linkage needs adjusting then. When it is in gear is there a lot of movement in the gearstick? If there isn't much movement then adjusting the linkage should fix it.This involves slackening a 13 mm locking bolt then locking the linkage at the gearbox in position then moving the gear lever to a preset position then locking the linkage again. If you are unsure a garage should not charge too much for this

Depending on what year the corsa is:

Corsa B (1993-2000) there are two plastic bushes in the gear linkage that get worn and need replacing

Corsa C (2001-2006) Need to replace whole gear linkage (very common fault)
