Hi

Can anyone please advise me on a suitable general purpose grout for a crazy paving garden patio made of Purbeck stone? A friend is helping me with this project at the moment. He suggested Precon general purpose grout, but they do not seem to exist any more and their phone is disconnected.

The stones are laid in cement and he wants to use a grout that can be mixed with water to form a thick liquid than can be poured into the gaps, However, looking at the thousands of options that google presents leaves me totally confused at to the best choice and where to get it. Someone told me that normal external grouts are not suitable for crazy paving as they are designed for paving slabs where the gaps are much narrower.

Could one just use cement? Or is grout better in some way?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

hydraulic lime? purbek stone is almost a marble, not stewed under pressure for long enough, but almost there. So you might want a slightly weaker grout than the stone itself.
