getting a TRV off to fix a cold radiator

I've looked at loads of threads about having one cold radiator (which I do!) and pretty well everyone says "take off the TRV and wiggle the pin about, also give it a spray with wd40" brilliant and its worked for loads of people....unfortunately I'm a complet klutz and cant get the thing off! I just turn it one way and then the other..should I try a spanner or levering it off with a screwdriver I'm just scared Im going to snap it...sorry for asking such a stupid question

well that does narrow it down by a few hundred different valves i surpose.

if it has a knurled metal collar under the sensor head unscrew it
