Over the winter my business largely tails off so I would like to find stuff to fill in. The obvious one would be some parcel delivering - my van is clean and reliable and not liveried.

Is there much casual delivery work around, and would a simple letter sent to the branch manager of the likes of DHL etc be the way to go?

How should one charge for such work?

Any other ideas for temporary winter work?

I was talking to a driver from Eurocarparts the other day...apart from driving all day in a firms van for next to nowt, he reckoned that if he has a bash, the insurance excess is down to him.....
I'm sweeping a good few chimneys these days as a form of diversification.....mucky a bit but loads need doing at £40 a pop.
Can you get into the Christmas tree market? Supply a fresh one, and recover the tree again after the event?
John :)
