Hi all,

I live in Plymouth but work up near London (and make regular trips back and forth).

With the rising price of diesel I'm becoming more and more conscious of the fact that I may be missing an opportunity to make a little money (I have 2 empty seats and a half empty van) from my trips.

Has anyone got any experience or insight on approaching courier companies for some contract work. Could it be worth going on places like gumtree and offering my services for one off deliveries. I suppose I could even entertain enduring the company of some smelly hippy if theyre willing to contribute to the diesel. Although thinking about it I'd rather just courier parcels

i know a few contacts in that line of work but you would not be much use to them.
i take it your travelling to london, working, then coming back home.
courier may have a package to deliver say heathrow, then a collection in heathrow to oxford.

No good to you as you've got to stay in london to go to work.
they need someone that can drop off recollect and deliver.

then you'd need to have the insurance on your vehicle to cover the goods.

why not offer your one-off delivery services through Shiply: Matches you with rated delivery firms "going there anyway"

We've used it twice (for one-off deliveries from Kent to other places in the UK) and works fine.

I'll look into that cheers.

I actually work all over surrey berks and London and I can pick and choose my work so I'm pretty flexible in that regard
