We are wanting to fit French doors into an opening which measures 1885mm wide x 2125mm high. The closest 'off the shelf' door size is 1790x2090. We are aware of extender kits which come in 20mm and 10mm units. Would we be able to use these frame extenders to make up the difference or is it going to be too much of a difference - is there a limit to the number of extenders you can use to make up the frame size?

Nothing wrong with frame extenders, thats what their for but you have a wopping 95mm to make up in the width so thats 45mm each side which allows a bit of slack for expansion but it'll make the frame look silly as its already a thickish profile because its door section not window.

The heigth you just get away with, you could bed the cill on a thicker than normal motar bed and then only use a 20mm extender on top or even slide some 95mm flat trim underneath so it cloaks the lintel, theres another 7mm.

Thanks for the reply.

I can see how it could look a bit daft having to make up the width but we could get away with the height issue using extenders. Maybe we will have to price up made to measure doors instead and compare that against a price for reducing the size of the opening.

Thanks once again.
